Do not remove wear that describes the condition of the item being sold. Cleaning the photograph is different from making the item appear repaired. You can improve presentation while preserving scratches, dents and missing parts that matter to a buyer. If you show a hypothetical restored appearance, label it separately and retain clear condition photographs.
Classify the mark before editing
A speck on the camera lens, dust temporarily on the table and a scratch in the product are different. Inspect the actual item where possible. Do not decide that an inconvenient mark is photographic noise merely because an image editor can remove it.
Keep a simple condition record beside the images. The listing text and image should agree about defects and included components. An attractive hero picture does not compensate for hiding a defect in an obscure thumbnail or omitting it altogether.
A fictional second-hand camera
An invented seller photographs a used camera beside a loose cable and paper receipt. The cable is background clutter; a chipped corner on the camera is condition evidence. Removing the cable can clarify the image if it is not included in the sale. Removing the chip makes the photographed item look better than what the buyer receives.
If the seller wants to illustrate a possible restoration, make a separate concept image and explain that the repair has not occurred. Do not replace the primary condition view with that concept or let the generated version invent an intact accessory.
Improve visibility instead of concealing wear
Use crop, exposure and restrained color adjustments to make the actual condition readable. Add an additional real close-up where the defect is important. Avoid strong smoothing or contrast changes that erase fine scratches even without explicit object removal.
Compare the edited photograph with the untouched source and the item. Check that labels, ports, fasteners and included pieces remain correct. A generative fill can change nearby structure while removing a background distraction, so review the boundary carefully.
Use the editor with a limited scope
In Imagild's photo editor, select only the photographic distraction you intend to address and inspect the result before accepting it. Keep an unedited reference privately. A style transformation is usually a poor substitute for truthful condition evidence because it can simplify texture and damage.
This is a practical presentation rule, not a promise that a platform accepts every edited listing. Consult the actual selling channel's requirements and ensure the final description is accurate. The image tool does not certify an item's condition or carry out a physical repair.
Can I remove a temporary fingerprint?
Clean the item physically and take another photograph when practical. If you edit it, confirm that you are not removing a permanent mark or misrepresenting the finish.
Is a restored concept acceptable beside real photos?
It can be if clearly separated and explained. Buyers should not have to infer which image represents the actual item for sale.
