If a wedding film appears on the venue screen while sound comes from the laptop, trace the playback audio route before re-exporting the video. Windows may still be using the laptop speakers, and some displays do not provide an audible speaker path. Microsoft's Windows audio troubleshooting guide covers output-device and sound checks. It does not establish how a particular venue has wired its amplifier.
Confirm that the file contains sound
Play a known speaking section locally and listen. Check the player's mute and volume controls. If the file itself is silent on the laptop, investigate the export separately. If local sound works but the room is silent, keep that known section for routing tests rather than switching between unrelated clips.
Ask the venue operator where sound should enter the system. It may come through the display connection, a separate cable, an audio interface or a media player. Do not assume that the projector has speakers or that its speakers feed the room amplifier.
Follow the signal deliberately
With the display connected, open the operating system's audio output selection. Identify the intended device and select it where appropriate. Watch the device names carefully: a monitor name may represent a digital output even when no useful venue speaker is connected to it.
Have the operator confirm the correct amplifier input, channel mute and room level. Use a modest test level and raise it under their control. Avoid repeatedly unplugging a live sound connection or changing equipment settings you do not understand.
In a hypothetical venue, the picture travels by HDMI while the sound desk expects a separate laptop audio connection. Selecting the HDMI output alone would not repair that arrangement. Conversely, where the venue actually uses HDMI audio, leaving Windows on laptop speakers can explain the symptom. These examples show why the real signal path matters.
Listen from the audience position
Test through the speakers guests will hear. Headphone playback proves the file has audio but does not verify the room route. Listen to narration and music, not only a notification tone. Check that speech remains intelligible at the planned room level and that the opening is not missed during switching.
Record the selected output and venue input with the event copy. Reconnect or restart as expected on the day and repeat a short test, since device selection may change. Acceptance means the film's actual soundtrack reaches the intended audience speakers. For Imagild Film Studio, include this route check in the handover rather than treating picture on the screen as completed playback.
