A proxy is a lightweight editing copy, and a proxy watermark can help distinguish it from original media. If that mark appears in the final movie, investigate which media was rendered. Adobe explains proxy creation and identification in its Premiere proxy guide. Do not remove a visible mark from the finished image before establishing its source and purpose.
Identify the mark and the media
Locate a marked frame in the exported file and compare it with the proxy and original. Confirm whether the original itself contains a mark. A stock-preview watermark or a creator's branding is not automatically a proxy identifier, and may involve different licensing or editorial decisions.
Inspect the project's original-media links. Confirm that the original files are actually accessible, not merely stored somewhere on the same computer. A moved drive, renamed folder or offline source can leave the timeline relying on editing copies. Preserve the current project before relinking.
Restore the intended source route
Use the editor's supported method to reconnect the correct originals. Match identity and timing, not just similar filenames. Inspect a recognizable opening frame and a later moment to ensure that the relinked file is the right clip. Check that its dimensions, duration and audio correspond to the expected source.
For a hypothetical wedding edit, a low-resolution proxy may have a corner identifier while the full-resolution source does not. If the export uses that proxy, the mark and reduced detail can appear in the delivery. Reconnecting the correct original and confirming export source selection addresses this scenario. It does not establish the reason for every watermark.
Inspect the actual export settings for any choice related to proxies or source media. Labels and behavior depend on the editing application and version. Avoid assuming that seeing an original in the project panel guarantees that every export will use it.
Render a verifiable proof
Export a short section that previously showed the mark. Open the output outside the editor and inspect it at native dimensions. Check detail, the corner region, timing and sound. Merely toggling the editing viewer from proxy to original is not a delivery test.
After the proof passes, render the full movie and inspect other marked clips. Preserve the original sources, proxy relationship and approved output. Explain which file is the final master in the handover note so a review proxy is not later shared as the event copy.
Acceptance means the approved export uses the intended authorized sources and any unwanted proxy identifier is absent. For Imagild Film Studio material taken into an external editor, verify source links and actual export quality before calling the movie a finished master.
