Mirror a sublimation design only at the stage specified by the chosen transfer workflow. Many face-down transfers need a reversed paper image, but software presets may already apply that reversal, and some products use different arrangements. Confirm the responsibility and test an asymmetric word before producing the full order.
Map the three orientation stages
Record the readable artwork source, the printed transfer and the finished viewing side. Decide which step changes left and right. If the design was mirrored externally and the print utility mirrors again, two reversals can cancel and create the wrong transfer orientation for the intended process.
Sawgrass documents presets that enable mirroring for certain products and remove it for others. That is a reason to check the selected product preset, not a universal instruction to mirror every file. A different ink, material or transfer system needs its own supported workflow.
Keep one readable master
Preserve the original photo and accurate typography in normal reading orientation. Make a clearly named transfer copy only when the workflow requires it. Do not flip only the text while leaving a directional logo or portrait unchanged unless that is an intentional design decision.
Check the print preview and an actual transfer test. A mirrored paper print can be correct even though it looks backward before application; a readable preview can be correct if mirroring occurs later. The final viewing side, not one isolated stage, determines success.
A hypothetical photo tote bag
Imagine a tote design containing a portrait and the original phrase North Gate. The creator has already mirrored the file, then chooses a utility preset that also mirrors. The printed transfer is no longer in the expected orientation. A small test reveals the issue before the full artwork is produced.
This is a planning example, not a transfer result. The creator returns to the readable master, assigns reversal to one agreed step and tests again. The proof includes both text and a directional visual feature so an accidental partial flip is visible.
Agree with the operator before sending files
State whether the supplied file is already mirrored and identify the intended substrate and viewing side. Ask the operator to confirm rather than infer from the filename. A file named final does not reveal its orientation contract.
Imagild can provide the photo artwork or concept. Add exact text and prepare the supported transfer layout externally. Do not ask a generator to render backward text as the manufacturing solution; it may alter the lettering itself.
Acceptance
Inspect the finished test from the side on which people will see it. Require readable wording, correct directional symbols and the intended photo orientation. Save the readable master, transfer version and confirmed mirror setting. Any change of preset or substrate triggers another check; do not carry one product's reversal rule into an unrelated process.
