An MP4 is normally a rendered viewing file: its visible captions and shots are combined into the output, not delivered as separate timeline tracks. Send an editable project and its dependencies when another editor must change them. CapCut's project export help describes limits around direct project interchange. This guidance concerns CapCut; do not assume that the domestic Jianying product has identical features or project compatibility.
Ask what must remain editable
List the requested changes: caption wording, shot order, color, music or timing. A simple cut to the finished movie may be possible from the MP4, but changing a baked-in caption cleanly can require the underlying image and text track. Establish the receiving editor's application and version before promising a project file they can open.
Keep the approved viewing export as a reference. Separately gather original clips, authorized photographs, audio, caption text or subtitle files, and relevant graphics. Record any fonts, plugins or licensed assets that are needed without redistributing them beyond their licenses.
Choose a real transfer route
If both editors use compatible project software, follow its supported packaging method and test the package. If their applications cannot exchange timelines directly, agree to rebuild the required section from sources. An MP4 does not become an editable project by changing its extension or importing it as one clip.
For a hypothetical wedding revision, the client may ask to change one name and replace the third photograph. Supply the approved name text, original photograph, relevant source project and a reference export with the affected time range. If the receiving editor lacks a compatible timeline, provide a concise edit map instead of claiming seamless conversion.
Include a manifest explaining which files are sources, which are previews and which version was approved. Use relative project paths or the software's supported collection mechanism when possible. Do not send only a project file whose media remains on your own computer.
Prove the receiving workflow
Have the package opened on the intended receiving environment, or test in a clean copy where practical. Confirm media links and make one harmless requested edit in a duplicate. Render a short proof and compare it with the reference. Opening the project without an error is insufficient if its fonts or music are missing.
Keep the original approved project unchanged. Acceptance means the receiver can perform the agreed edits with available, authorized dependencies. For Imagild Film Studio, define the editing handover separately from the finished movie delivery so an attractive MP4 is not mistaken for a transferable timeline.
