Studio Mode provides preview and program views, but editing a source used by the active program can still affect what viewers see. Check source sharing before changing live artwork. OBS's frontend API documentation distinguishes preview and program state. An OBS forum discussion also records user confusion about changes appearing during preview work; it is a question sample, not a guarantee about every edit type.
Identify what was changed
Stop experimenting on the public output. Reproduce the arrangement in a local recording using harmless artwork. Note whether you changed a scene selection, a scene item's placement, or the underlying source's file and properties. These changes are not interchangeable.
Inspect whether the preview scene reuses the exact source currently visible in program. Two differently named scenes can share one image source. Changing that source's file can therefore change both uses. Merely selecting another scene is not proof that all of its components are independent.
Prepare an independent candidate
For an artwork replacement, make a genuinely separate source for the new image where appropriate. Confirm that it references the intended new file and is not another reuse of the existing source. Keep the old approved file available. Do not overwrite an image file that the live source may reload while you are preparing the replacement.
In a hypothetical family livestream, both a waiting scene and a title scene might reuse one image source. Selecting a new image in that shared source can affect the waiting screen already on air. A separate candidate source can support a controlled transition after a test. The scenario is assumed, and the outcome should be verified in your own version and arrangement.
Check filters and other reused components as well. An independent scene name does not automatically create independent source settings. Avoid broad promises that every preview transform is live or that every property is isolated; test the specific operation you plan to perform.
Verify the audience sequence
Record program locally while making the candidate change in preview. Confirm that the on-air artwork remains approved until the intended transition. Then transition, check the new image, and practice returning to the previous scene. Include any operator shortcut used during the event.
Save the working source arrangement and a short change procedure. Acceptance means the audience sees only approved artwork at the intended moment. It is not established by a screenshot of two view panes. For imagery prepared with Imagild Film Studio, separate content approval from the live source replacement test before publishing the broadcast output.
