A readable Chinese subtitle can still contain the wrong person's name. This is a transcription error, even when every character displays correctly. Start with an approved name list and review occurrences in context. Adobe describes transcription search and replacement in Premiere help. Search is useful for finding candidates; it does not establish that all matching words refer to the same person.
Establish the approved names
Ask the family or project owner to provide names as editable text. Include the relationship or role needed to distinguish people with similar names. Keep private spellings in the project records rather than publishing them as troubleshooting examples. Record any intentional nickname separately from the formal name.
Listen to the affected sentence and compare it with that list. A homophone can be a name in one sentence and an ordinary word in another. Mark uncertainty instead of inventing a spelling from the audio alone. If the sentence is unclear, ask the owner to confirm it or keep the caption conservative until clarification.
Search without blindly replacing
Search the transcript for the incorrect form. Review the audio and surrounding sentence for every result. Replace only the occurrences that match the approved person. Also search the correct name and likely alternative forms, because one transcription may use several spellings for the same speaker.
In a hypothetical wedding film, a relative's name might be transcribed as an ordinary word with the same sound. Correct the introduction where that person is named, but preserve an unrelated sentence that really uses the ordinary word. This example is invented; it demonstrates why a global replacement can create new errors.
Check whether the editing system updates captions when the transcript is edited. If transcript and caption tracks are separate, correct the actual visible captions as well. Review title cards and speaker labels independently: a transcript search does not inspect text baked into an image.
Proof the delivery file
Export a short section containing the corrected name. Watch with the final caption style and listen to the sentence. Confirm that the name appears during the intended speech and is not clipped by the frame. Then review all name occurrences in the full export, including opening titles and the ending.
Save the approved list and an edit note. If the name later changes, identify the exact occurrences affected rather than repeating an unrestricted replacement. Acceptance means every visible reference to the person follows the approved spelling and surrounding words retain their original meaning. For Imagild Film Studio projects, complete this editorial pass before treating a captioned export as ready to share.
