A soundtrack that plays in the preview is not necessarily the audio source selected for speech recognition. Music can remain audible while the original clip is muted, a narration track is not selected or the intended source has not loaded correctly. Identify the speech-bearing object before increasing volume or replacing the whole video.
Separate playback from recognition input
CapCut’s “No Audio” recognition help describes source, mute and loading problems. That is documentation for CapCut. Mainland Jianying and other editors may expose different recognition targets, so read the control in the environment actually being used.
List the original camera sound, imported narration and background music. Solo each track if the editor supports it, or temporarily mute the others in a copy. Record which object contains the spoken sentence. The full mix can conceal that the dialogue source is missing while a music track continues normally.
Do not interpret a visible waveform as proof that it contains speech or that the recognizer is reading it. Check whether the waveform belongs to music, the relevant clip is muted, and the recognition command targets original audio, an imported track or a supported mix. The same source must be identified in the test record and the tool action.
Run an eight-second source test
For a proposed diagnostic sample, record a clear eight-second narration saying one approved sentence and add music on a separate track. In a project copy, listen first with only the music enabled and then with only the narration enabled. Confirm that the latter contains the sentence from beginning to end.
- Select the speech source supported by the current recognition tool.
- Check that its mute state, media loading and time range permit access.
- Submit only the short test and inspect the resulting words.
- If the source is rejected, try a verified working copy in a supported format rather than renaming the extension.
- Restore the approved music mix after the recognition path is established.
This procedure is a repeatable test plan, not a successful result reported from a specific application. A failure message should be retained exactly. “No audio detected” and a partially correct transcript are different observations and require different follow-up.
Match the text to the source you intended
Acceptance means the recognized sentence corresponds to the isolated narration, not to lyrics or an unrelated sound. Play the test outside the editor and compare the reviewed cue timing with the spoken phrase. If the actual content is a song, investigate the tool’s documented lyric workflow separately; do not use that mode as a general replacement for dialogue captions.
Avoid amplifying music to make an audio meter look busy. It does not create missing dialogue and can make recognition harder. If the intended narration itself is absent, recover or record it with approval before continuing. Imagild Skills can prepare the visual assets for an external editing project, but they do not establish which audio source that editor will recognize. Keep the source inventory with the final transcript so another reviewer can reproduce the route.
